Rock Climbing in the Peak District

Moclín, a ancient town in southern Spain, around a short drive from Granada, is the inspiring location for this creative getaway. Painters of every skill level – including novices – will discover how to plan and create modern art. A portion of the time will be spent outside, working on structured activities in the open. These initial sketches and paintings will then be expanded upon in the studio, with guests creating a number of interpretive scenes in acrylics to be exhibited in the village. The group has exclusive access of the venue, which is built around an central patio and has a roof terrace with panoramic vistas over the countryside. The price includes five days of painting tuition; full board; and an outing to the nearby fortress and additional points of interest.

Ottolenghi-Inspired Culinary in Portugal

This Mediterranean cooking retreat, located at a riverside villa in the inland Algarve, is draws inspiration from the vegetarian dishes of renowned chefs. Participants will master the art of meze spreads, attend a falafel-making workshop, perfect brunch dishes such as shakshuka, and make substantial main courses including a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. There are trips to the local market and a nearby winery to sample Portuguese wines, combined with leisure time for walks by the nearby river, to unwind on the terrace or swim in the infinity pool. The farmhouse, a renovated rural property, has five bedrooms, as well as safari tents in the gardens.

Hip Hop in High Wycombe

This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive three-day dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The format each day is a high-energy warm-up session, then three 90-minute classes covering various street dance styles, then an hour-long freestyle session to show off those solos. Participants are divided into levels based on ability and experience, so it is suitable for those who are brand new to popping and locking, right up to advanced dancers or instructors. This event does not provide lodging but there are several places to stay within walking distance, and it is 23-35 minutes by rail into central London.

Maritime Singing Break in St Ives

St Ives is the excellent spot for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will learn traditional shanties from a folk singer and vocal coach, and try their hand at composing original ones. The schedule includes voice exercises, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a final evening concert. The holiday is based at a rural hotel with views of St Ives Bay. All meals are provided, such as a Cornish cream tea on arrival, breakfast options, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Traditional rum, alas, is not provided. Writing in Crete

Writer and tutor Greg Mosse leads the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He explores everything from story structure, character development, locations and tension, to submitting work to publishers. Greg’s wife, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will co-host special sessions at the start and finish of the week. The retreat is held at a village-style hotel in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – 10 private accommodations surround a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to share). On the final evening, aspiring writers celebrate with a musical performance in the garden and a final meal.

Introduction to Apiculture in Wales

A leading eco-centre near Machynlleth runs a host of programs on sustainability: from wildlife gardening to upcycling. It is aimed at produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. This course is also a chance to de-stress in the organization's sustainably managed forests, which are home to polecats, otters, dormice, bats and rare birds. These new weekend sailing courses are spent on Wayfarers and Dufours on the estuary in Essex.
