Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry title that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing chaos and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose work have exemplified all of those elements.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by introducing a new setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from year to year, while always examining the core of humanity through this complex and turbulent lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and present our common unconventional, ambitious approach to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
