Armed assailants have fatally shot an educator and abducted at least 25 students in an attack on a educational institution for young women in Nigeria's northwestern region, police reports indicate.
The armed faction breached the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State at around 4 AM local time on Monday, authorities reported.
The assailants "confronted officers on duty in a firefight" before scaling the perimeter fence and seizing the students from their living quarters, authorities disclosed.
An educational worker was killed while trying to protect the students. An additional employee received firearm injuries and is now undergoing medical care.
