The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old captured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
